Pinto
The Pinto division is where it all begins for Pony Baseball. Pinto is for 6-8 year old players who want to have fun.
In the Pinto Division, we teach the children, coaches and parents the fundementals of baseball. We will set a foundation for the players and coaches that will prepare them for the Mustang level of play. It is our goal not only to supply the kids but the families with a great baseball experience. We incorporate rules at the Pinto level for kids who have never played before as well as the experienced 7 and 8 year old.
Mustang
The Mustang division is intended for 9 and 10 year old players that want to take the next step after playing in Pinto. Although it is still intended to be instructional, season standings are kept and there is a post-season tournament resulting in a divisional champion.
Children will begin to learn the whole game of baseball. They learn how to pitch and catch, steal bases, play the outfield and hit the cutoff man, and how to turn the double play.
This is an extremely fun age for children's baseball as they develop and refine baseball skills and learn to "think" the game of baseball.
Bronco
The Bronco division is for the 11 and 12 year old player looking to build on their baseball experience. Leadoffs, the sacrifice bunt, and hit and run plays are all a part of the Bronco division.
Players also get the chance to play on a larger diamond (70 ft bases) for that big league feel. Coaches at this level refine the baseball skills and fundamentals without losing site of the main objective - to have fun.
Our Bronco division participates in the Greater DuPage PONY Baseball Association (GDPBA). This association is made up of baseball teams from neighboring communities (Darien, Woodridge, Bolingbrook, etc.).
