Reminder for the 2010 season!!!
Like last year - Romeoville Pony will not issue helmets to
teams for batting
this
season. Each player is responsible to provide their own batting helmet
(NOCSAE approved). You can purchase one at your local sports
store.
What's PONY all about?
If you would like to have your son or daughter sign up for
some real baseball and some real
fun, than PONY Baseball has what you have been
waiting for. With each passing season we
have well over 550 players competing annually on over 45+ teams. Also,
in 2010 we will have
full/part time traveling teams from 8U up to 14U available in our
league along with many other
opportunities. Players are able to learn, compete locally, and older
players (11yrs old and up)
are able to travel. Teams will only play each other twice through out
the season allowing for
much more diverse competition.
We had an awesome season last year and are anticipating another one
this year. We are also
the only league in Romeoville to offer FREE Baseball.
That’s correct! By signing up early at
our Open House and participating in our fundraiser package your child
can play in 2010
without any funds coming out of your own pocket. (Please note this
requires participation in
our required league fundraiser with payment up front for fundraiser
tickets – You earn your
money back as soon as you sell the tickets).
Something that sets us apart from other leagues is our desire to teach
age appropriate skills.
For our younger players we offer a split program. Our 7 yr olds (6 yr
old, if skilled) compete in our Pinto level 1
which is coach pitch baseball. This level is for entering players or
those who have never
played baseball before as long as they do not turn 9 prior to May 1,
2010. Next is our Pinto
level 2, which is player pitch. We introduce the mechanics of pitching
while the players do
not have to deal with base stealing and lead-offs as they do in our
Mustang level. We feel this
offers a more concentrated effort at teaching proper pitching form.
This level is for our returning
7yr olds and 8 yr olds.
Next up is the Mustang level for 9 and 10yr olds where we introduce
lead offs and base
stealing giving our catchers and pitchers a further opportunity for
challenge. Once our players
reach 11 yrs old and enter the Bronco Division – it’s full on baseball
rules and 70-ft base paths
and they really have fun!
We also offer a full-time travel division representing Romeoville Pony
Baseball. Five teams
under the Romeoville Rattlers title, age
levels 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and age level 14
Come check us out at our Open House in early January and see what all
the fun is about.
Come and be a part of one of the most progressive baseball programs
around!
